How noisy is the Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier?
There are no official published numbers for the Santa Fe Classic decibel rating. However, we tested a unit using an analog sound meter 6 feet away. The sound level varied from 58 to 62 decibels, depending on where the tester stood in relation to the unit.
How large of a space can this dehumidifier handle?
This unit is officially rated at 2,700 square feet. However, this is only a rule of thumb. To accurately size a dehumidifier for a space, you must consider many factors. These include ceiling height (cubic volume), building construction (sheet metal construction, concrete, open earth), degree of airflow (one open space vs. multiple rooms), amount of moisture in the space and re-entering the space, layout of the room, position of the dehumidifier, area of the country, temperature in the space. Sizing a dehumidifier can be very complex.
Can this unit be ducted?
Yes. The Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier can be supply-ducted, return-ducted, or both. This versatility allows it to be used in ways traditional home dehumidifiers cannot. You can use this unit in an unfinished basement, centrally placed, with no ductwork. You can also use this unit in a finished basement - with the unit hidden away in a utility closet and ducted as necessary. Ductwork can be branched as needed. If you have a complex ducting question, please call us, and we will be glad to discuss your application with you.
How do I get rid of the water from the dehumidifier?
Like other Santa Fe dehumidifiers, the Classic can remove a great deal of moisture from the air during the day. As such, a drip pan is neither practical nor provided. This unit is meant to be setup for permanent drainage. A 6-foot hose drains the water from the unit via gravity. This hose can be fed into a sump pump, into a french drain, or into some other type of floor drain.
Alternatively, this unit has an optional condensate pump accessory, which can pump the water from the unit, and comes with an additional 20 feet of hose. This would allow you to run the hose upward (up to 15 feet vertically) if needed. Use this configuration to run the hose to the outside of your home, into a sink, etc.
What is the lowest temperature at which the dehumidifier will operate?
This unit operates down to 56 degrees F. This incredible temperature operation is sufficient for most basement environments in the country.
Is the Santa Fe Classic on wheels?
Yes. The Santa Fe Classic sits on four small casters. These casters can roll the unit once on a level surface (such as a basement concrete floor). However, these casters are not meant to roll the unit downstairs or large drops.
