Santa Fe Dehumidifiers: Overview of A Customer Favorite Brand

Santa Fe is one of the most popular brands we offer here at Sylvane. A Santa Fe dehumidifier delivers top-tier performance when you need to dehumidify large living spaces and whole homes effectively. Keep reading or use the links below to learn what makes Santa Fe one of the premier legacy brands found here at Sylvane.

What Are Santa Fe Dehumidifiers?

The history of Santa Fe dehumidifiers began in 1977 with the establishment of Therma-Stor, LLC, to create heat recovery water heaters for residential and commercial applications. Over the years, Therma-Stor expanded its lines to manufacture various solutions, such as Quest agricultural and industrial dehumidifiers, Phoenix restoration equipment, and their Santa Fe series of free-standing and whole-house ventilating dehumidifiers.

Engineered and assembled in Madison, Wisconsin, Santa Fe dehumidifiers protect your home and family from the harmful effects of excessive moisture. Their commercial-grade residential solutions are easy to install and use, making them a must-have for any home.

What are the Different Types and Uses?

Standalone

Typically used in basements and crawl spaces, Santa Fe standalone or freestanding dehumidifiers are ideal solutions for rugged environments. Exceeding Department of Energy standards, Santa Fe freestanding dehumidifiers are high-capacity units that can remove up to 155 pints of excess moisture daily, depending on the model selected. Standalone dehumidifiers can sit on a floor or be suspended from joists to avoid water intrusion.

Santa Fe Standalone or Freestanding Dehumidfiiers
  • Basements: Moisture typically enters a basement through the soil around perimeter walls, cracks in the foundation, or from the soil under walls or floors.
  • Crawl Spaces: An unsealed, vented crawl space is often the main culprit of excess moisture in your home. Failure to control humidity levels in crawl spaces can cause moisture issues throughout your home, leading to wood rot, mold growth, increased pest activity, and poor air quality.
  • Garages: Often overlooked as a source of excess humidity, garage spaces not connected to your home's HVAC system are susceptible to moisture that creates rusting and mold.
  • Workshops: High humidity levels in workshops can damage wood and tools and affect the time for glue, paint, and stains to dry.

Whole Home Dehumidifiers

Taking residential dehumidification to the next level, Santa Fe's Ultra Series whole-house dehumidifiers offer complete indoor air quality control. They work with your home's HVAC system to release properly dehumidified air to every corner of your home via ductwork. Dehumidification helps protect your home and belongings from potential moisture damage.

Santa Fe Ultra Series Whole House Dehumidifiers
  • Whole Homes: Santa Fe's whole-home dehumidification solutions work alongside your HVAC system to help improve the moisture levels throughout your home.
  • Multi-Use Rooms: Whether they're storage spaces, home theaters, or family rooms, multi-use residential spaces are susceptible to humidity.

In-Wall Dehumidifiers

Leading the pack in creating the next great home dehumidification solution, Santa Fe recently released the Ultra MD3 In-Wall Dehumidifier. It is designed to drain into your home's plumbing line or a hub drain for a hands-off dehumidification system. Removing up to 33 pints of water per day is an ideal moisture control solution for multi-family applications like apartments and condos.

Santa Fe MD33 In Wall Dehumidifier
  • Home Gyms and Exercise Rooms: As you work out and build up a sweat, perspiration evaporates and creates moisture, contributing to higher indoor humidity levels that can damage fitness equipment.
  • Gun Rooms: Whether they're heirloom pieces or used frequently, keeping your gun collection in top shape depends on indoor humidity levels. Failure to do so can degrade the condition of your firearms.

Why Invest in a Santa Fe Dehumidifier?

There is a myth claiming that whole-house dehumidifiers are more expensive than portable dehumidifiers marketed as whole-house dehumidifiers. While both accomplish the dehumidification process, it is an unbalanced comparison based on the initial price alone. The upfront cost of a Santa Fe whole-house dehumidifier or other similar-sized units often exceeds that of portable dehumidifiers. However, over time, you’ll find that you will mostly end up paying more in energy costs to keep the portable dehumidifier operating, whereas the whole-home dehumidifier is a long-term investment in your home.

With the purchase of a Santa Fe dehumidifier, you can expect:

  • Energy Efficiency: Every Santa Fe dehumidifier is designed for maximum efficiency, exceeding Department of Energy Standards.
  • Commercial-Quality: Engineered and assembled in the United States with quality components and materials, Santa Fe brings commercial-grade dehumidification to the home.
  • Large Capacity Dehumidification: Depending on the model you select, a Santa Fe dehumidifier can remove up to 205 pints of excess moisture daily. Portable dehumidifiers cannot match that performance.
  • Industry-Leading Warranty: Every Santa Fe Dehumidifier is backed by a 6-year industry-leading warranty, providing years of peace of mind.

How Often is the Filter Changed?

Changing Santa Fe Dehumidifier Filter

Santa Fe dehumidifier filters can last up to a year. For optimum efficiency, it's recommended that you check the status of your dehumidifier's filter at least every six months. Changing the filter in your Santa Fe dehumidifier is easy:

  • Step 1: Remove the pre-filter by gently pulling on the bottom of the filter frame. Then remove the MERV filter by pulling on the bottom of its filter frame.
  • Step 2: Angle the top of the new MERV filter and gently slide the filter into the filter slot. Repeat the same process with the pre-filter.

In Summary

Santa Fe Dehumidifiers are efficient, high-capacity machines tough enough for crawl space environments. With freestanding, whole-house, and in-wall options, they can handle any high-humidity issue in your home or office.
