Other Considerations
Some environmental factors can influence the size of your window AC. Adjust your BTUs as needed:
- Extreme Sunlight: If direct sunlight hits your room for large parts of the day, consider increasing your BTUs by 10%.
- No Sunlight: For rooms that stay mostly shady and aren't exposed to light, decrease your BTUs by 10%.
- Occupants: When multiple people are occupying your room, body heat adds to the room's temperature. As a rule, we suggest adding approximately 600 BTUs of cooling power for each person living in the bedroom.
- Kitchen: Increase the power level by about 4,000 BTUs if you're using it in a kitchen with multiple heat-producing appliances.
