Most built-in fireplaces need a deep recess, which rules out many walls before you even start. The Remii Extra Slim Indoor/Outdoor Built-In Electric Fireplace sits only 4 inches deep, so it suits shallow walls, and it can go in bathrooms or on a covered porch where a deeper insert would never fit.

You also get 2 ways to finish it. Keep the black steel surround for a clean wall-mounted look, or take the surround off and bring your own finish right up to the edge for a recessed, custom installation. Either way, it runs on standard household power, so you don't have to plan major electrical work.
