Description
Backdraft dampers (also known as gravity dampers) are used in exhaust and intake HVAC systems to allow airflow in one direction while preventing reverse flow. Galvanized sheet metal is used to make the Fantech RSK6 6-Inch Duct Backdraft Damper for circular ducts. Every Fantech Backdraft Damper is designed for maximum performance.

- Zinc Coating: The 24 GA, G90 galvanized steel casing is coated with a thin layer of zinc, which protects the steel beneath it from rust.
- Damper blades formed from aluminum H14: 20 percent stronger than 1100 series aluminum.
- Stainless Steel Blades: Features two stainless steel blades that are torsion spring-loaded.
- Built to Last Has a 3/32" diameter brass central rod and EPBM synthetic rubber gasket.

It works, but you have to be super careful to ensure it is vertically positioned because if it's not, the spring is not strong enough to close the dampers. For such a design, I would have expected either a stronger spring, or have the product be labeled in some way to warn consumers about the needed orientation to ensure operability.
