Operating independently of your HVAC system, this humidifier will evenly distribute up to 34.6 gallons of moisture to spaces as large as 6,200 square feet. Its modulating output allows it reach a tighter humidity control than other steam humidifiers, within 3% of your desired set point. This unique modulation makes it ideal for homes and buildings with delicate furniture, paintings, and musical instruments.
Model 801 vs. Model 866

Modulating Output
What sets these Aprilaire steam humidifiers apart from others is its modulating output. This ability allows the unit to meet a tighter relative humidity control than other options. Typically, within 3% of the set point, it’s a useful feature for homes and buildings with delicate belongings like musical instruments, paintings, artifacts and other sensitive objects.
How it Operates
Both models generate steam by energizing 2 electrodes that extend into a canister filled with water. As the current flows between the electrodes it’ll cause the water to boil, creating steam. This steam humidity then flows through a distribution tube and humidified air is then either released through your ductwork or the fan pack depending on your selected model.
The daily humidity output is based on the electrical draw you’ve chosen. At 120 volts it’ll provide 16 gallons of moisture per day. You’ll have 30 gallons per day at 208 volts and with 240 volts it’ll deliver 34.6 gallons per day.
