More about Thermostats for Homes and Offices

The first step in choosing the right home thermostat is determining the type of heating and cooling system you have. Then you need to consider how you want to use it and what features to look for.

Features range from simply increasing your comfort level to programmable settings that save you money and conserve energy. Customers often consider features like digital displays, daily and weekly programmable options, and Wi-Fi capabilities.

Thermostats not only adjust your temperature to keep you comfortable; they also help control your energy usage. The thermostats available for your space will depend on your home's heating and cooling system.

The most common home systems are central heating and air conditioning, but select thermostats we offer also work with heat pumps, electric baseboard heaters, fireplaces, and more.

Thermostats range from programmable and non-programmable digital thermostats to the most basic manual thermostats with limited features.

Common programmable options include 7-day, 5-1-1-day, 5-2-day, and weekly programmable settings. Some digital thermostats use "smart technology" that learns to adapt to your schedule, while others connect to Wi-Fi networks that can be monitored, set, and managed remotely. These features not only help you save energy and run your air conditioner or heater more efficiently, but they can also save you money by only running when they're needed.

If you're looking for a programmable HVAC thermostat, you have a few different options. Programmable thermostats usually have 4 periods per day, but there are multiple daily-programmable options to consider:

  • 7-Day: Program a unique setting for each day of the week, with up to 4 time periods per day. This is ideal for people with schedules that change daily.
  • 5-1-1-Day: Set one program for the weekdays and different programs on Saturday and Sunday.
  • 5-2-Day: This option allows for programming a weekday setting and a weekend setting with up to 4 programs per day.
  • 1-Week: Set a week's worth of programs with up to 4 sessions each day.
