The Nilfisk GM-80 Light Industrial Vacuum with HEPA filtration is a compact but powerful vacuum with multiple cleaning applications. This portable vacuum is ideal for commercial, industrial, and heavy-duty residential cleaning. A multi-stage filtration system includes a downstream HEPA filter plus pre-motor filters.
Heavy-duty parts, cleaning attachments, and a trolley make it a reliable choice for dust cleanup and contamination control in factories, manufacturing plants, and other industrial areas. If you're a contractor, the GM80 HEPA can also help you comply with the EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting rule.
Nilfisk's Multi-Stage Filtration System
The GM 80 not only provides HEPA filtration, but that’s just one stage in Nilfisk’s robust, four-stage filtration system that ensures your vacuum's exhausted air—and your indoor air—remain clean. This four-stage system includes:
- Large Capacity Fleece Dust Bag: In this first stage of separation, the 2.25-gallon fleece bag collects most of the large debris and filters small particles at 95.5% efficiency. Smaller particles, such as fine dust and allergens, are captured by the remaining filters.
- Main Filter: This oversized filter maintains a steady, even airflow to prolong the life of the remaining filters and to ensure optimal vacuum and filtration performance. The filter should be replaced when you notice a loss of suction.
- Micro-Filter: This optional polyester micro-filter is a final step in pre-filtration and is designed to protect the vacuum motor, filtering out microscopic particles, such as bacteria. This filter should be replaced when you notice a discoloration of the material.
- Downstream HEPA Filter: As the final and most effective stage of filtration, the HEPA filter has an area of 3.55 square feet, capturing 99.97% of particles sized down to, and including, 0.3 microns, which often include the most toxic and hazardous dusts in your environment. Each HEPA filter is individually tested to meet these efficiency specifications. Typically, the HEPA filter should be replaced with every fourth change of the micro-filter.
EPA RRP Compliance
If you are a contractor, this Nilfisk HEPA vacuum cleaner can help you comply with the EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting rule. In addition to using a HEPA filter, these vacuums from Nilfisk can accommodate a turbo floor nozzle with a beater bar to improve lead dust removal on carpeting. The Turbo Floor Nozzle Part # 56649625 (sold separately) works to dislodge heavy lead particulates that may have accumulated in carpet fibers over time. Using a HEPA vacuum like the GM 80 equipped with a floor nozzle that features a beater bar when cleaning carpeting is required to remain EPA RRP-compliant.
Safe Industrial Use
Designed for a variety of industrial applications, including lead abatement and contamination control, this Nilfisk vacuum is CSA certified, with an IP rating of 40. It also features a large 3.25-gallon total tank capacity, so that bag changes are required less frequently. Additional safety features include the following.
- Grounded 3-Prong Plug: This provides additional protection from electric shock.
- Thermal Motor Protection: This vacuum features a motor thermal protection device that prevents overheating, whether it's caused by a failure to properly maintain filters or an accidental blockage in a nozzle or hose.
- Double-Insulated Motor: The GM80 is equipped with a 1,100-watt double-insulated motor that further prevents electric shock.
- Interference Suppression: Interference-suppressed motors won't interfere with sensitive electronic equipment.

Finally retired our 22 year-old GM-80 and bought the brand new, hepa filtered one and love it. Only negatives so far are that it throws off a ton of heat during use (the old one didn't), and the suction is actually TOO strong and pulls up our rugs, so we use the air adjustment tab and then it works fine.

We have purchased multiple GM80 vacuums for our manufacturing facility and they operate remarkably. Sometimes we run them 16 hours a day for a month straight and they keep on sucking. The noise level produced is very minimal, sometimes you have to touch the vacuum to feel if it is on or off, it is SO quiet.
