Multi-Stage HEPA Filtration

Whether you are vacuuming a sensitive environment or simply trying to maintain cleanliness, the last thing you want is to risk releasing harmful airborne particles and pollutants back into your space through the system's exhaust. That's why the Nilfisk Museum Package Vacuum is equipped with a robust, four-stage filtration system to ensure that your vacuum's exhaust—and your environment—remain clean. This four-stage system includes:

  • Filtering Dust Bag: Nilfisk synthetic dust bags collect most of the large dust particles and debris you encounter for simple disposal. Smaller particles, such as fine dust and allergens, move through the dust bag to be caught by the remaining filters.
  • Main Filter: This oversized filter maintains a steady, even airflow to prolong filter life and ensure optimal vacuum and filtration performance. The filter retains 99.8 percent of particles as small as 0.3 microns.
  • Micro-Filter: This vacuum features an optional polyester micro-filter designed to protect the vacuum motor and filter out microscopic particles, such as bacteria. This filter is efficient in retaining 99.5 percent of particles greater than 0.2 microns in size.
  • HEPA Filter: As the final and most effective stage of filtration, the GM-80 Museum Vacuum's HEPA filter captures 99.97 percent of particles sized down to 0.3 microns, which often include the most toxic and hazardous dusts in your environment. Each Nilfisk HEPA filter is individually tested to meet these efficiency specifications.

As an option, the Nilfisk GM 80 with Variable Speed Control can be upgraded to include an ULPA, or Ultra Low Penetration Air, filter. The tightly woven ULPA filter (sold separately) can filter out 99.999 percent of particles as small as 0.12 microns in size and lasts approximately 1,000 hours under normal use. This filter is especially beneficial for maintaining a clean, contaminant-free environment in sensitive spaces.

    Nilfisk GM80 - terrific service from Sylvane!

    We ordered the Nilfisk GM80 to use in our museum because it is hands down the best vacuum for the job. It is best for historic, fragile artifacts because of the variable speed control. This maintains the suction, which can be turned down to protect the artifacts. We used this same model on a large 70 year old burlap rug and ran the Nilfisk for hours at the time, and the vacuum did not overheat. The HEPA filter was necessary in case of mold spores and other minute particulate matter. The vac is petite and easily managed for the small items in our museum (works on paper, sculpture, textiles), but is substantial enough to also use industrially if needed. Sylvane was by far the least expensive company for purchasing this model, yet we got a lot of extras in the purchase, because of the museum package, such as the variable speed attachment, the HEPA filter, and the extra bags. It arrived in less than 24 hours after ordering and there were no shipping costs. The directions included were concise and clear. So far, the product is well worth the cost. There are a couple of plastic pieces (mainly the handles) that I am concerned about holding up over time most of the machine is metal. I believe it will be substantial and useful over a long period of time. From extensive research, reviews, and experiences, we know this product is the best on the market for the cost and for our in-house museum conservation purposes.
