MRCOOL 48,000 BTU 4 Ton Hyper Heat Central Ducted Heat Pump Split System - 10 kW / 15' is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Description
Description
Most heat pumps start to struggle in a cold snap. The MRCOOL Hyper Heat ducted system was engineered for that problem. Its inverter-driven outdoor condenser keeps producing heat far below zero, so 1 heat pump running through your existing ducts can replace both a furnace and a central air conditioner.
The system gives you the efficiency of a mini-split with the coverage of a traditional central HVAC system. The included installation kit has an installation manual, stub pipes, and copper nuts. It also comes with foam insulation and a drain joint, so your installer has the fittings ready on day one.
Key Features and Benefits of the MRCOOL 48,000 BTU 4 Ton Hyper Heat Central Ducted Heat Pump Split System
- Whole-Home Capacity: Delivers 48,000 BTU of cooling and 50,000 BTU of heating at 4 tons, enough to condition homes and offices up to 2,000 square feet.
- Extreme-Climate Range: Heats in outdoor temperatures from -22 to 75 degrees F and cools from -22 to 122 degrees F, keeping you comfortable through harsh winters and summers.
- Efficiency Ratings: Rated up to 16.5 SEER2, 10.5 EER2, and 9.5 HSPF2 with Energy Star recognition, which helps you trim heating and cooling costs year-round.
- Inverter Condenser: A DC inverter compressor varies its speed to match demand, while Gold Fin technology protects the outdoor coil from corrosion in harsh conditions.
- Multi-Position Air Handler: Installs in upflow, downflow, horizontal left, or horizontal right orientation, and its removable filter and self-diagnostics panel make servicing simpler.
- Strong Airflow: Moves up to 3,037.1 CFM at a maximum indoor sound level of 65 dB, pushing conditioned air out to distant rooms on long duct runs.
- Included Controls: Ships with a wired wall thermostat and a wireless remote whose Follow Me function reads the temperature where you sit, and it works with compatible third-party thermostats.
- R-454B Refrigerant: This refrigerant has a lower Global Warming Potential than older options and still delivers powerful cooling.
- Power and Listings: Runs on 208-230 volt power and is AHRI certified and ETL listed, so its rated performance and electrical safety are independently verified.
- Long Line Runs: Supports refrigerant lines up to 246 feet, so your installer can place the outdoor condenser well away from bedrooms or patios.
- Air Handler Size: The air handler measures 21.02 x 24.49 x 52.99-Inches (L x W x H) and weighs 162.92 pounds, so you can confirm floor clearance early.
- Condenser Size: The outdoor condenser measures 38.58 x 16.34 x 38.39-Inches (L x W x H) and weighs 201.06 pounds, which helps you plan the pad.
Choose Your Auxiliary Heat and Line Set
Pick an auxiliary heat level from none up to 20 kW, then pair it with no line set or a No-Vac Quick Connect line set from 15 to 50 feet.
- No Auxiliary Heat: This setup relies on the inverter heat pump alone, which fits milder winters where an electric backup coil would rarely switch on.
- 8 kW Auxiliary Heat: This setup adds an electric resistance coil for modest backup warmth on the coldest mornings in smaller or well-insulated homes.
- 10 kW Auxiliary Heat: At 2 kW more than the 8 kW option, this coil adds backup capacity for larger floor plans or regions with longer cold spells.
- 15 kW Auxiliary Heat: This setup steps up from the 10 kW option for homes that face long periods of sub-zero weather.
- 20 kW Auxiliary Heat: The largest coil gives you the most backup heat when you need it across the full 2,000 square feet.
- No Line Set: This version ships without a line set, so your installer can run lines sized to your home's layout.
- 15-Foot Line Set: This version includes a No-Vac Quick Connect line set for a condenser placed right beside the wall where the lines enter.
- 25-Foot Line Set: This version includes a No-Vac Quick Connect line set for moderate runs, such as an air handler 1 or 2 rooms away from the condenser.
- 35-Foot Line Set: This version includes a No-Vac Quick Connect line set for layouts where the air handler sits deeper inside the house.
- 50-Foot Line Set: This version includes a No-Vac Quick Connect line set, the longest option offered, for condensers set well back from the house.
Note: A licensed HVAC professional must install this system, whatever setup you choose.
Sylvane's Expert Take
If you're replacing a worn-out furnace and central air conditioner in a home up to 2,000 square feet and want to keep your ductwork, this MRCOOL system is a strong fit, especially where winters drop below zero. Its cold-weather heating matters most, because it decides how often backup heat runs at all.
Match auxiliary heat to your climate: very cold regions justify 15 or 20 kW, while milder ones can skip it. Measure the distance from the condenser to the air handler before you pick a line set, and you'll have 1 heat pump that covers every season.
