I've been looking for a humidifier for the room where we have our piano. It's basically a sunroom with open doorways at either end. The room is nearly 350-400 sq. feet. I wanted a humidifier that didn't look like a humidifier. They all look like something you find in an institution like a nursing home. So I was excited to find the Oskar Big. I absolutely love how it looks and the blue lights make it look hi tech. But ultimately, a humidifier has to humidify the air and this one is nearly worthless. At this price, that is not acceptable. I knew evaporative humidifiers are not great, but I thought I'd give it a try. It is darn quiet, well it starts out that way. One of the fans eventually developed a ticking sound at high speed. So much for quiet. And the hydrostat I think is schizophrenic. I have several independent hydrostats sitting near the unit and I never can get more than 20-25% humidity, even running all the time. When it runs out of water it seems I need to power it off and on to get the hydrostat to register and turn the fans back on. Otherwise it never goes on again. Save your money and go buy an ultrasonic one like an Air-o-Swiss, which is what I should have done.

Works great, relatively quite but small and nice looking. Have it on a side stand next to the sofa and it is doing a good job keeping my guitars humidified to above 30% here in the high mountains of Colorado in the winter. Btw I do have to top off the water reservoir daily - no biggy
