What You'll Need
All the required installation materials will be included with your new air conditioner. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver to complete the installation.
Step 1: Unbox Your New Air Conditioner
You'll first want to remove all packing materials according to the instructions found printed on the top of the box.
Step 2: Verify the Included Materials
Next, remove all packing materials and check for all included installation hardware.

Step 3: Attach Window Curtains
After folding down the sides of the carton bottom tray, attach the window curtains to both sides of the unit. Make sure to press the push pins into the sleeve firmly in order to secure the curtains to the air conditioner.
Step 4: Lift the Unit Into Place
Once both window curtains have been installed, it's time to lift the unit into your window. Follow the lift points listed on the bottom tray and slide your hands under the unit to lift and carry the AC to your window. Place the unit into the window, making sure the bottom rail is against the back edge of your window sill.
Pro Tip: The unit weighs over 70 pounds, so you're going to need the help of a friend to safely lift the Kuhl.
Step 5: Close the Window Sash
After the air conditioner is in place, it's time to center the unit and close your window sash onto the air conditioner's upper support rail.
Step 6: Ensure Proper Placement
Check to make sure that the air conditioner is level or slightly tilted downward to the outside.
Pro Tip: Depending on your window type, install the appropriate window lock as recommended by the window manufacturer.
Step 7: Extend Window Curtains
Next, extend the window curtains to fill your window.
Step 8: Secure Window Curtains
Once you've extended the window curtains, you'll want to secure the curtains to your window jamb and window sash using the provided screws.
Step 9: Insert Window Sill Gasket
After the window curtains are secured, find the included window sill gasket and cut it to the width of your window. Insert the gasket in between your window sashes.
Step 10: Installation is Complete
You did it! Installation of you new Friedrich Kuhl is complete. Simply plug in the power cord, turn the unit on, and start cooling your space.
