Miele Blizzard CX1 Bagless Vacuums: The Perfect Storm

Miele Blizzard CX1 Bagless Vacuums: The Perfect Storm

Recently Miele launched their very first series of bagless vacuums, the CX1 Blizzard Series. That’s right—a Bagless Miele Vacuum Cleaner! The Miele brand has long been associated with high quality bagged vacuum cleaners that feature superior HEPA filtration and lasting durability so…What about filtration? Suction power? Compatible tools? …you may be thinking.

Let’s answer those questions and take a look at what makes the new bagless CX1 Blizzard so special.

Some Things Stay the Same

First of all, the Blizzard CX1 series vacuums have a many of the same quality components and features of Miele bagged vacuums.

  • Gentle start motor with auto shut-off for overheat protection. Item gets sucked in, motor shuts off.
  • Handles with Anti-static Conductor to prevent discharge between you and the vacuum.
  • Comfortable Ergonomic Handle with a flexible hose connector provides lever action for maneuverability.
  • Auto Cord Rewind with the same tangle-free action and easy toe-tap operation.
  • Telescopic Wand can be intuitively extended to accommodate your best working height and locks firmly into place.
  • 33-foot power cord, telescopic wand, and suction hose provide the long cleaning reach you expect.
  • Two parking docks—one on the side for taking a break, one underneath for storage.

New Things Create a Storm of Suction

Sporting a sleek look, these canister vacuums are available in several models which differ mainly in the type of included floor nozzles and tools and, by extension, which type of flooring each model is best suited to clean.

But the real news is in Miele’s Vortex Technology that creates high-velocity, cyclone-like centrifugal force for airflow in excess of 62 mph. The CX1 Blizzard series features a new powerful motor with specially designed impellers that produce this consistently high airflow, sucking up dirt, dust, and debris.

  • All components are designed with airflow-optimized air guides for excellent cleaning results.
  • Floorheads are constructed with larger inlets and an aerodynamic design, “hugging” the floor so dust doesn’t escape.
  • Adjustable suction power can be set to various floor surfaces, for optimum cleaning results for that type.

New Filtration for Life

The vortex action not only creates powerful suction, but is also the first stage of filtration. Blizzard CX1 uses this centrifugal force to separate fine dust from coarse dirt and debris.

  • Coarse soiling flows into the main dust bin which has a mesh filter to prevent debris from traveling further.
  • Fine dust is filtered through the GORE CleanStream fine dust filter into a separate container. (In case you were wondering about “GORE”, the filter media is made from material developed by Gore-Tex®.)
  • Finally, air exits through a HEPA AirClean exhaust filter which traps tiny particles down to 0.3 microns including many allergens such as pollen, smoke particles, and pet dander.

Miele has designed the Blizzard with the unique ComfortClean System that senses when the GORE filter needs clearing. The vacuum shuts off and the ComfortClean cycles on for 20 seconds, clearing the filter, then resumes power. This cleaning cycle can also be performed manually by pressing the button on the vacuum housing. Ultimately, this ensures consistent, high-performance cleaning results.

What this boils down to is more hygienic dust bin clearing for you…and for your air. With fine dust collected in a separate container, the main dust bin can be emptied with a single button, depositing collected debris and dirt into the trash without fine dust flying back into your home.

Here’s the real bonus: These filters are all Lifetime Guaranteed. Not only is there no bag to replace, but zero filters to replace. The mesh and fine dust filters can be cleaned manually, and should be maintained regularly for the best cleaning performance.

Wheels and Tools

  • This change, which may seem insignificant at first, is the addition of a 4th wheel. These wheels have 360° Dynamic Drive engineering which means more maneuverability than ever! Plus, they’re rubberized so they zip around without leaving marks or scratches.
  • The upholstery nozzle and the crevice nozzle are always on board at the back of the Blizzard CX1. Models with the Eco Comfort Handle have a dusting brush integrated in the handle. Just slide down and lock into place to dust, then release and slide up. Vacuum cleaners without the Eco Comfort Handle have the dusting brush supplied as an accessory.
  • Existing Miele accessories are compatible with these new bagless vacs, with the exception being electrical wands and hoses that are compatible only with models that have electrically powered floor nozzles.
