Versatile & Powerful: Miele TriFlex Cordless Stick Vacuums

Versatile & Powerful: Miele TriFlex Cordless Stick Vacuums

Cordless vacuums have been around since the late ‘90’s and ever improving as new models are made available. Miele vacuum cleaners have been an industry standard for reliability, effective cleaning, and a leader in clean air & HEPA filtration, as well as a streamlined look, for decades. However, the Miele TriFlex cordless stick vacuum was released only in July 2020 in the US. It has been well worth the wait.

Thoughtfully designed for maximum flexibility during use and storage, longevity, and effective cleaning, the TriFlex line delivers. Following the Miele tradition of providing options for buyers, the TriFlex is available in three variations in terms of features and price. Buyers can choose the Basic HX1 model, the popular Cat & Dog model, or the Pro model depending on their needs and budget.

Innovative 3-in-1 Design

Miele’s unique design provides three ways in which the power unit can be attached to the handle, giving you the most comfortable method of operation depending on the type of cleaning you need to do. The light weight of the vacuum—less than 8 pounds—make using it easy on the operator.

  • Range Mode: Position the power unit directly below the handle at the top of the vacuum to conveniently access spaces beneath furniture or to clean high into ceiling corners and edges. Positioned closer to your hand, this makes reaching up easier.
  • Comfort Mode: Change the power unit close to the floor at the bottom of the vacuum for a lower center of gravity—perfect for vacuuming large areas without becoming fatigued.
  • Compact Mode: The power unit can also be used completely without the stick using just the attachments, creating a handheld vac with more flexibility for cleaning smaller spaces like cars, campers, boats, and other recreational vehicles.

Cleaning Power of a Miele

While many cordless vacuums claim to be “powerful”, the Miele TriFlex delivers on this claim, giving you as much power as their highest-performing corded canister vacuum cleaner. Vortex technology, like that used in their bagless Blizzard series canister vacuums, gives these cordless vacuums the power to handle not only hard floors, but medium to deep pile carpeting as well.

The 11-inch wide electronic brushroll floor nozzle (Miele XXL SEB 430 or 435-with light), this stick vacuum can handle any flooring, and because it’s wider, you’ll be able to clean large areas in less time. It also adjusts automatically to different floor types so you can move smoothly from carpeting to hard floors and back again.

In addition, you can choose from three power settings to further customize cleaning power to fit the floor and/or the mess. And, since the switch is located conveniently on the handle, you can adjust it quickly whenever necessary.

Reliable Battery Power

The lithium-ion rechargeable battery that powers the Miele TriFlex is made by VARTA, Germany’s premier battery manufacturer. With 7 cells, it charges in only 4 hours and will give you a full hour of run time before needing to be recharged. This, coupled with a larger cleaning head that covers more territory in less time, ensures you’ll be able to finish most vacuuming jobs on a single charge.

If you have a larger home, or want to use the TriFlex in a cleaning business, Miele provides batteries and charging cradles as additional purchase options.

Miele TriFlex Models Compared

As previously mentioned, the TriFlex is available in three versions: The Basic HX1, Cat & Dog, and Pro models. They all weigh the same and have the same features, differing only in a few areas.

The Cat & Dog includes an electro compact handheld brush for specialized cleaning of pet hair from upholstery or car interiors. Of course, it can be purchased separately and works with all TriFlex models. All models include a dusting brush, crevice tool, and a standard upholstery brush for whole-home cleaning.

The Pro includes an additional battery and charger cradle, great for owners of large homes, or for business owners who love the convenience of cordless but need additional batteries for office spaces. These are also a great option for cleaning business-owners!

Both the Cat & Dog and the Pro models have lifetime HEPA filtration, while the HX1 uses the Hygiene pleated filter that still captures fine dust and can be cleaned by tapping it. It can be replaced, but it should last several years before that becomes necessary.

Storage and Maintenance

Often these two things aren’t considered by the shopper, but they can become important if you don’t have a lot of storage space or time to perform scheduled maintenance.

Again, Miele gives you options. The battery charger can be placed on the floor, or mounted on a wall to hold not only the battery, but the vacuum and attachments as well. You can also select where the power unit is located on the vacuum when charging, either at the top near the handle or near the bottom.

If you need to charge the battery outside the vacuum, you can simply plug it into any outlet and charge the battery by itself, then reinsert into the machine.

The cordless stick vacuums come with lifetime filters, whether it’s the hygiene or HEPA type, so you don’t need to worry about changing filters. Its bagless, so—no bags to worry about—and cleaning the dustbin and brushroll from time to time is all that’s needed to maintain the TriFlex.

Worth the Cost?

The TriFlex cordless stick vacuums have been worth waiting for and are priced in the same range with other top brands like Dyson. Given the Miele reputation for dependability, long-life, and superior cleaning, these convenient vacs are well worth the investment.

Whether you live in an apartment or small house, a large home and would love an extra vacuum, or need a superior cleaning machine for your office or cleaning business, the Miele TriFlex cordless vacuum is a great choice.
