Info & Guides

Description

Propane and kerosene heaters bring open flame and carbon monoxide into the spaces you are trying to dry out. The King Electric PKB Platinum Portable Unit Heater uses dry electric heat instead, for job sites and industrial facilities. A high-airflow, low-temperature-rise design spreads warm air evenly for temporary large-capacity heating. The line comes in 3 voltage configurations, including a 3-phase option, so you can match the heater to your site's electrical service.

Control sits right on the heater. The electronic thermostat gives you up and down temperature buttons and a start/stop button, and the remote lets you adjust settings from across the room. A thermostat timer mode and a summer fan-only mode keep the heater useful after the heating season ends.

Key Features and Benefits of the King Electric PKB Platinum Portable Unit Heater

  • Heating Capacity: A 10,000-watt rating produces 34,100 BTU, so cold job sites and large industrial spaces warm up to working temperature.
  • Smart Limit Protection: King's patented thermal overload cuts power to the elements and motor if temperatures run too high, then resets after you switch the heater off for 15 minutes.
  • Spiral Fin Elements: Copper-brazed metal sheath elements with spiral fins move heat efficiently and run cooler, which helps the elements last longer.
  • Steel Cabinet: Electro-galvanized 20-gauge steel with a rust-inhibiting baked enamel finish in black handles the knocks of daily job site use.
  • Tip-Over Protection: Built-in tip-over protection works together with automatic overheat protection to add a layer of safety on a busy work floor.
  • Mobile Design: Casters and a carrying handle let you move the 62-pound heater between work areas as your heating needs change.
  • Enclosed Fan Motor: An epoxy-coated motor with an enclosed, permanently lubricated rotor drives an aluminum axial-flow fan blade, so you have less maintenance to do.
  • Adjustable Outlet Louver: Louvers tilt up or down so you can aim heated air where you need it, and a heavy-gauge steel rear screen guards the fan blade.
  • ETL Listed: The heater carries ETL certification, which tells you it has been independently tested to recognized safety standards.
  • Upright Footprint: The heater measures 21.5 x 19 x 41.25-Inches (L x W x H), a tall, narrow profile that saves floor space on crowded sites.

Choose Your Voltage

You can choose the PKB Platinum in 208-volt, 240/208-volt, or 480-volt 3-phase configurations to match the electrical service at your site.

  • 208-Volt Option: Model PKB2010-1-T-FM runs on single-phase power, so it suits sites wired only for this voltage.
  • 240/208-Volt Option: Model PKB2410-1-T-FM runs on single-phase power at either 240 or 208 volts, so it suits crews that move between sites with different service.
  • 480-Volt 3-Phase Option: Model PKB4810-3-T-FM is rated for 440 to 480 volts, so it connects to high-voltage industrial service.

Note: Maximum amperage runs from 12 to 48.1 amps depending on the model, and power connections are plug-in or hardwired. Confirm your circuit can handle the model you choose before setup.

Sylvane's Expert Take

If you're running a dry-out or heating a cold job site where open flame is not an option, the PKB Platinum line is the electric heater to bring in. It works best in large, enclosed spaces that need temporary heat. Every voltage option has the same heat output, so choose by your site's electrical service, not by heating power. The Smart Limit overload and the fan-only mode matter most: the first protects the heater during long runs, and the second keeps it working for you once the weather turns warm.
