I use this fan in an attic window of a two story house to exhaust summer hot air and circulate cool evening air through the house all night. I have the 1/4 hp variable speed model, but used only as a single speed, without the speed control. I built a plywood shroud for it so as to use it as a window unit. It works very well: powerful, but noisy. The noise level is no fault of the fan, it is just what it takes to move that much air. Actually, this fan is as smooth and vibration-free as one could expect. It is a robust, on/off, one way, simple fan and I love it for my application. Nothing rinky-dink, landfill-bound about it.

The fan arrived in perfect condition and on time. Installing the fan is pretty straight forward. I installed mine on a Cleary building. I put mine on a switch so I don't have to plug/unplug all the time. The louvers will fluctuate in the wind a bit when not in use, so I installed a hinged box made of OSB board to cover the fan from the inside. This helps keep the warm air in from my furnace. Fan is working well. This my second order with Sylvane. They're a good company to buy from. I like that they accept PayPal too. I'll be purchasing an air conditioner next.
