The testing device is a diffusion-based track detector that filters out radon particulates to assess average exposure. To test your home, you'll place the device in a regularly used area on the lowest level of your home and leave exposed for at least 91 days and up to 365 days.
Easy Testing and Analysis Process
The AccuStar Alpha Track Radon Test Kit comes with easy-to-follow instructions for a simple testing and analysis process. Once you've left the AccuStar Alpha Track Radon Test device exposed for your preferred amount of time, fill out the included data sheet, and mail the device and data sheet to the AccuStar lab for analysis. Each kit includes a mailing envelope with first class postage. AccuStar will send your results report to you via email within 2 weeks after receiving your device. You can also view your results on the AccuStar website or by calling AccuStar's 24-hour toll-free phone number. All of this information is included with your kit instructions. Once you have the results of your test, you can take steps to mitigate high radon levels.

Accustar Alpha Track radon test kit was rated highest for accuracy when compared with other brands by gurus at Consumer Reports. The test takes 90 days or more to complete, so if results turnaround is needed quicker, I recommended First Alert SC07 Home Radon Test Kit RD1, which I used successfully and is close in accuracy to the Accustar Alpha Track in the Consumer Reports comparison but takes about 10 days from starting the test to get back results.
