Over time, a damaged or missing collar lets conditioned air escape into the crawl space or basement instead of moving through the duct run, which slows drying and makes the dehumidifier work harder than it needs to. Swapping in a new collar restores that connection without replacing the rest of the duct run, so your dehumidifier gets back to pulling moisture out of the air quickly. Part number 5698.
