Info & Guides

A portable air purifier only cleans the room it sits in. The AprilAire U151 Whole-House Air Purifier (model U151) installs with your HVAC system, so the air your system already moves passes through its filter media to provide healthy, cleaner air to every room. That same airflow path also helps protect your heating and cooling equipment from dust buildup.

If you have an AprilAire 1510, the U151 is its replacement. The gray cabinet is made of galvanized steel and plastic and is built for professional installation with your HVAC equipment. AprilAire designs and makes it in the USA.

Key Features and Benefits of the AprilAire U151 TriPure 3 in. Filtration Whole-House Media Air Cleaner

  • MERV 11 Filtration: The included 3F511 MERV 11 filter captures up to 92 percent of household dust and common allergens, so you breathe cleaner air throughout your home.
  • TriPure Technology: AprilAire's TriPure Technology pairs advanced filtration with long filter life, so your air keeps getting cleaned between filter changes.
  • Lower Airflow Resistance: In ASHRAE 52.2 2017 testing, the filter showed up to 30 percent lower airflow resistance than leading brands, so your HVAC system works less to move air.
  • 12-Month Filter Life: Each 3F511 filter lasts up to 12 months, and up to two times longer than other leading brands, so you only change it about once a year.
  • Easy-Glide Rails: The redesigned easy-glide rail system guides the filter into the correct position on the first try, and a secure closure door shuts the cabinet firmly.
  • Healthy Air App: The Healthy Air App lets you schedule filter replacement reminders, so you don't miss a change.
  • Warranty Coverage: The air purifier warranty and Clean-Coil Commitment each run for 10 years; the commitment includes $250 toward professional coil cleaning.

Plan Your Install Space for the U151 Cabinet

The U151 cabinet measures 31 x 6.75 x 30.167 inches (H x W x D). At 6.75 inches wide, it takes up little room along your ductwork. The cabinet is sized for a filter with a nominal size of 31 x 28 inches, and the included filter is 3 inches thick; keep both dimensions on hand when confirming replacement fit with your installer. Leave the door side of the cabinet clear so you can slide the filter out on its rails at each yearly change.

Sylvane's Expert Take

The AprilAire U151 Whole-House Air Purifier is ideal for households with allergies or pets, relying on a ducted HVAC system, because it treats every room your ducts serve. If you are replacing your HVAC equipment, have the AprilAire U151 installed within 6 months so you qualify for the Clean-Coil Commitment. The features that matter most are the MERV 11 capture rate and the yearly filter change, which together keep upkeep low. If you want whole-home filtration you rarely have to think about, this air cleaner is hard to beat.
