Multiple Modes
Smart Dehumidify Mode
Take the work out of removing moisture by using Smart Mode. It automatically sets the ideal humidity level and fan speed based on your room’s ambient temperature and humidity level - automatically adjusting as needed. The Smart Dehumidify function is perfect for worry-free and complete comfort.
Automatic Mode
If you don't want to use the Smart Mode, simply set your desired indoor humidity level between 35% - 80% relative humidity. This Danby dehumidifier will work to maintain it without any extra work from you.
Energy Star Most Efficient Rated
An extension of the Energy Star program, the Most Efficient rating recognizes products that deliver cutting edge energy efficiency and the latest technological innovation. The Danby DDR040BJ2WDB 40-pint dehumidifier carries this rating (2022).
Additional Features
- Upgraded Timer: Allows you to set your unit to turn on or off up to 24 hours in advance.
- Humidity Display: Indicates your room’s current ambient humidity.
- Full Bucket Indicator: When the water collection tank is full, an indicator light will illuminate and the compressor and fan will turn off.
- Multiple Fan Speeds: For quick dehumidifying, the fan speed can be adjusted from low to high.
- Automatic Restart: If a power outage occurs the unit will resume operations in its previous settings.
- Washable Air Filter: Its reusable washable air filter will need to be periodically cleaned and an indicator light will let you know when it’s time.
- Caster Wheels: Four wheels allow for easy transport from room to room as needed.
- Automatic Defrost: Should the ambient temperature drop below 41 degrees F, the defrost indicator light will come and the unit will stop dehumidifying until frost has melted.
- Compact Design: Place this dehumidifier just about anywhere because of its compact design: 16.14 x 11.81 x 24.5 inches (W x D x H).
- Precise Humidity Control: You can simply set your desired indoor humidity level between 35% - 80% relative humidity. This Danby dehumidifier will work to maintain it.
Drainage Options
- Manually drain the unit when the bucket is full. An indicator light notifies you when it's time to change the bucket.
- Add a garden hose (not included) to the direct drain spout on the back of the dehumidifier. This allows for continuous gravity draining.
- Add an external condensate pump, which allows for the most hassle-free operation possible. The pump moves collected moisture up and out of the unit to another location.
Note on Pint Capacity: This dehumidifier was rated to remove 40 pints of moisture under the new Department of Energy standards of 65 degrees F and 60% humidity. Dehumidifiers were previously tested at 80 degrees F. New 50-pint units are equivalent to the old 60-pint units. Learn more about the updated pint capacities here.

I recently purchased an older home in an area where water infiltration in basements is common. An older dehumidifier came with the house but wasn't really doing the job. The basement always smelled damp and musty even when the surfaces had been dry for a long time. Within a few hours of installing the Danby dehumidifier, the smell in the basement was noticeably reduced. Within a few days, the air felt dryer and has continued to be better, even with recent rains that allowed a bit of water in. I highly recommend this appliance. Sylvane also shipped it quickly and has been available and responsive to questions. I'll definitely purchase from them again.
