Desert Spring AutoFlush System

I have hard water and usually need to completely clean and delime my Skuttle drum style Humidifier several times a season. There aren't a lot of Autoflush products available so I bought this one. By adding a brass drain to the pan and a 3/8 barb 3/4 MIP adapter to the top of the flush mechanism i made a nice connection using 3/8 id vinyl tubing. I am flushing the pan every 12 hours for the minimum duration available which is one minute. Both flushes added together only use about one gallon a day and the water hardness and nitrates measure much lower than before. Batteries get changed from the front so i can remove and test them without dismantling everything.

I use this auto flush valve as an addition to my Desert Spring Humidifier. The humidifier is a great product that I have had for almost 20 years. The old plug-in auto flush valve wore out and I went to Desert Spring for this replacement. It mounts easily and since it is battery powered the mounting is very simple. It's super easy to program with one dial for how often it turns on and another for how long it opens allowing the humidifier to refresh it's water. It works great. I have it flushing for three minutes every 12 hours.
