Description

Getting down on your hands and knees with a sponge or brush to clean up tough floor messes is a job most people dread or avoid during their cleaning routine. The iRobot Roomba Plus 678 Combo Vacuum/Mop + AutoWash Dock takes the stress out of large floor messes by vacuuming and mopping on its own so you don't have to.

Key Features and Benefits of the iRobot Roomba Plus 678 Combo Vacuum/Mop + AutoWash Dock

  • SprayForce AI Pre-Treatment: AI-guided spray pre-treatment loosens tough messes before the mop arrives, giving you 40 percent better mopping efficacy than mopping without the SprayForce AI.
  • Hot Roller Mop: The PowerSpin roller mop scrubs with 140 degrees F water and about 3.4 pounds of downward force to work through sticky residue on your hard floors.
  • SealForce Carpet Suction: SealForce technology creates a tighter seal with carpet to boost suction, cleaning deeper messes, like embedded hair, litter, and kibble.
  • Obstacle Avoidance: PrecisionVision AI recognizes cords, toys, and pets and steers around them, so you spend less time clearing the floor before each run.
  • LiDAR Mapping: ClearView Pro LiDAR maps 1,000 square feet in under 10 minutes and stores up to 3 maps, so you can clean on different levels of your home.
  • PerfectEdge Reach: PerfectEdge Technology extends the roller up to about 45 mm (1.8 inches) outward, picking up debris along your baseboards and wall edges.
  • Low Profile: The Roomba Plus 678 Combo stands at a slim 9.95 cm (3.9 inches) height to glide under furniture, reaching those hard-to-clean spaces.
  • AutoWash Dock: The 13.78 x 13.24 x 18.68 inch (L x W x H)AutoWash dock washes the roller in 176 degrees F water and dries it with 131 degrees F air, while auto-emptying debris for up to 90 days of maintenance-free operation.
  • Auto-Solution Tanks: The 4-liter solution dirty water tanks automatically remove dirty solution and refill the Roomba Plus 678 with clean solution.
  • Tangle-Resistant Brushes: A hair-cutting multi-surface bristle brush and an anti-tangle Edge-Sweeping brush resist hair wrap, so you spend less time clearing brushes.
  • Wi-Fi Connectivity: Built-in Wi-Fi links the robot to your home network, letting it take commands from your connected smart-home devices.
  • Smart Assistant Control: Alexa, Google, and Siri compatibility lets you send the robot out to clean with a voice command through any Alexa, Google, or Siri-enabled device in your home.

Matching the 4 Cleaning Modes to Your Floors

Your floor layout should decide which of the 4 cleaning modes you run. Vacuum-only suits fully carpeted bedrooms, while mop-only works great for cleaning hard floors or tile that's already free of crumbs.

On mixed floors, running the vacuum and mop mode saves you a second trip. The Roomba Plus 678 raises its mop about 0.4 inches when it detects carpet, so the wet roller stays off your rugs. Choose vacuum first, then mop when floors are covered in heavy debris to avoid pushing the debris around by a damp roller. Because the robot climbs thresholds up to about 1.4 inches, moving between rooms with different flooring rarely interrupts a run.

Sylvane's Expert Take

If you live in a home with pets and a mix of hard floors and rugs, this robot earns its keep in kitchens and entryways where sticky, tracked-in messes build up daily. Plan the dock spot before unboxing, since it needs a hard-surface floor with clearance for the robot to navigate. The pre-treatment spray and hot-water roller matter most here, because tough spills get loosened and scrubbed in a single scheduled pass. If hand-mopping is the chore you most want gone, this robot is worth the floor space.
