Description
Description
If a slab is still holding moisture, the flooring laid on top of it can fail, so it pays to test first. The Protimeter Hygromaster L Flooring Kit gives you the tools to check inside the concrete. At its core is the HygroMaster L, a simpler version of the Protimeter HygroMaster 2. It keeps the same performance and accuracy but has an easier interface.
The meter also reads ambient humidity and temperature, plus dewpoint and specific humidity. That means you can use it beyond slab testing, including flood damage restoration and building surveys.
Key Features and Benefits of the Protimeter Hygromaster L Flooring Kit
- In-Situ Probe Method: You drill to 40 percent of the slab depth and insert the humidity probe and sleeve, so the reading comes from inside the concrete.
- Amphenol Advanced Sensors: Sensor technology from Amphenol Advanced Sensors gives fast, accurate readings, so you spend less time waiting at each test hole.
- Full RH Range: The meter measures relative humidity from 0 to 100 percent, so it can read any slab, from dry to saturated.
- Calibration Test Bottle: The included salts calibration bottle checks the sensors at 75 percent relative humidity, so you can trust your readings from job to job.
- Wide Operating Range: The meter works from 32 to 122 degrees F, so you can test in unheated buildings and in warm work areas.
- Compact Design: At 7 x 3.2 x 1.5-Inches (L x W x H), the battery-powered meter weighs 1 pound and fits easily in your tool bag.
- Safety Certifications: The meter carries CE and ETL marks plus RoHS certification, so you know it meets recognized safety and hazardous-substance standards.
Plan Your Concrete Slab Test
Everything you need for the in-situ method comes in the kit, so you can work through each slab in order. Start by drilling the test hole with the included carbide-tipped masonry drill bit. Then clear out the debris with the wire-cleaning brush so the probe sleeve sits in a clean hole. The probe insertion and extraction tool puts the probe and sleeve in place and pulls them back out when you have your reading.
With all these tools in one kit, you arrive at each slab with your full testing setup.
Sylvane's Expert Take
If you're a flooring installer or building inspector who has to approve concrete before flooring goes down, this kit covers the whole slab test. It works best when you need humidity data from inside the concrete, not a surface check. The HygroMaster L has a simpler screen than the HygroMaster 2, which makes routine testing faster. The 2 things that matter most are the Amphenol sensors and the included calibration bottle, because together they give you numbers you can stand behind.
