Description

Tight joist bays and shallow wall cavities rule out a lot of ventilation equipment. The S&P TRLPe Low Profile 130 CFM Energy Recovery Ventilator fits spaces as shallow as 9.5 inches. It swaps stale indoor air for filtered outdoor air at 30 to 130 CFM in homes and light commercial spaces. You can choose a plug-in or hardwired power configuration to match your electrical setup.

The crossflow core uses S&P air-to-air technology to keep the incoming and outgoing airflows separate. It recovers 82 percent of energy at 34 CFM and 62 percent at 138 CFM, so you get the best return at lower speeds. At 110 CFM and 0.5 inches w.g. of static pressure, you still get up to 68 percent recovery (60 percent in winter and 44 percent in summer temperatures).

If you're adding balanced ventilation to a home with shallow ceilings or tight wall cavities, start with the TRLPe. Set it to run continuously near the low end of its airflow range, where energy recovery is highest and the EC motors use the least power. Both power configurations perform the same, so your only decision is whether the mounting spot has an outlet nearby or needs a permanent connection. Either way, you get fresh air without losing most of the energy you paid to heat or cool it.
