Description
Description
Standing next to a hot barbecue on a July afternoon gets easier with the SPT 18-Inch Oscillating Misting Fan (SF-18M45) beside you. You hook it up to a standard garden hose and outdoor faucet, and it sends cool mist across your deck. It also swings side to side so the people sitting at the far end of the table stay comfortable too.
The misting feature is for outdoor use only. When summer moves indoors, leave the hose off and the SF-18M45 works as a regular oscillating pedestal fan for your living room or home office. That gives you one fan for the pool deck in the afternoon and the den in the evening.
Key Features and Benefits of the SPT 18-Inch Oscillating Misting Fan (SF-18M45)
- Brass Misting Nozzles: Fed directly by your garden hose, 3 brass nozzles resist UV damage and rust, so they keep misting through long summers in direct sun.
- 18-Inch Blade: The fan blade drives mist outward with strong airflow, cooling you and your guests across a patio or poolside seating area.
- GFCI Safety Plug: The GFCI-protected plug shuts the fan off when it senses unintended current, which protects you when the fan runs in damp outdoor conditions.
- Thermal Cutoff: Built-in thermal cutoff protection shuts the motor down if it overheats, which matters when your fan runs for hours in midsummer heat.
- Adjustable Height: The stand adjusts from 46 to 54 inches tall, so you can aim mist at seated guests or at whoever is standing at the barbecue.
- Speed Settings: You can pick from 3 fan speeds to match the airflow to how hot the afternoon gets.
- Tilting Head: You can tilt the fan head up or down for direct, targeted mist, or turn on automatic oscillation to spread cooling across a wider area.
- Low Power Draw: The motor draws just 54 watts at 0.45 amps on standard 110 to 120-volt household power, so it won't strain your outdoor outlet.
- ETL Certified: ETL certification shows that this misting fan has passed independent electrical safety testing, so you can plug it in near water with more confidence.
- 17-Pound Build: At 17 pounds, the fan is easy for you to carry from the patio to the pool deck and back into storage.
Plan Your Patio Around the Cord and Noise Level
The power cord is 5 feet long, so choose your outdoor outlet first and arrange the seating within easy reach of it. At full power, the fan produces up to 70 dB, so switch to a lower speed when guests are seated close by. With a depth of 17 inches, the base can sit along a deck railing or beside a lounge chair without taking up much floor space. Set the fan upwind of your guests when you can, so the breeze carries the mist toward them.
Sylvane's Expert Take
If you host backyard barbecues or spend summer afternoons by the pool, this fan works best on open patios and decks with good airflow. The key thing to know is that the hose feed means you never stop to refill a tank, but misting is for outdoor use only. The 2 features that matter most are the rust-resistant brass nozzles and the GFCI plug, because they help keep misting safe in damp outdoor conditions. Connect it to your hose once and it will likely become a fixture at every cookout.
