The Whynter 12,000 BTU NEX Portable Air Conditioner utilizes an inverter compressor. Unlike other compressor options, inverter compressors use variable speeds to optimize their power consumption. This gradual increasing and decreasing of the compressor's speed lets the air conditioner reach your desired temperature quickly and more efficiently than other options.

Unit works really well, blows cold air and cools the room well. I haven't used the wifi function yet, so I can comment on the that but we are happy overall.

I bought this for my daughter, but she found it a bit too big for her space and didn't want it. I put it in my room ( I don't think it's that big) and tried it once to try an bring her around, but to no avail. The AC is the best I've seen. Very quiet, especially on low. Very cold air and cools a space very quickly. The exhaust to the outside is very quiet as well so it won't bother neighbors. I had to return it as I have no place to keep it, but Sylvane support was awesome and very helpful and processed the return quickly. I would buy again. One note the almost identical Midea is the consumer reports top pick , but doesn't exhaust the condensation like the Wyntner.

Does the job, noise level is acceptable, and super easy to wheel around--good quality casters. I sometimes use it in a room larger than its capacity and it still takes the edge off a super hot day. Be aware if you want to use this in a sliding door, you will have to make your own adapter. Whynter advertises that you can attach a second window adapter, but in their email correspondence with me, we all came to realize that they do not attach in a functional way without additional customization (tape at minimum). Sylvane has been kind and responsive to my customer service needs.
