    Great little fan

Installed as part of a kitchen range hood install. The fan itself is high quality. The housing and empeller are plastic, but they don't feel cheap. This version I purchased is a bit odd because it came with an on/off switch and plug-in, but I was easily able to wire it to a external EC potentiometer and a hardwired power source (for context, I'm a DIYer). You'll likely want to know about the fan noise. It's very quiet to start. When you start cranking it up (say 20-30%), there is a higher pitched hum that is noticeable. However, this isn't a big issue for us since the motor is housed in another room in an enclosed space (but keep that in mind - they do have a silenced version but is considerably larger because its housed in a steel tube). As you crank up the speed, the loudest part of the system is actually the wind being sucked through the range hood baffles (and not the motor itself). Very powerful EC motor. Generally, if you're on the fence about EC, I would make the jump. Having ""infinite"" control over the fan makes a huge difference. I also learned the hard way but AC motors will generate a loud electrical hum when you are throttling the speed down from 100% just by the nature of how AC motors work. I did a bit of research and the company is based in Germany and its primary market is the EU and UK, so you wouldn't necessarily hear a whole lot about Ruck. The US website is also a bit lacking so there's probably a lot more you can find at at www.ruck.eu (you'll need…
